Occasionally I field questions about the purpose of half-day Fridays. The legend that persists is that we have the half days so that families can get a jump on their weekend plans.
While I cannot say if that was true in 1926, I can say without hesitation that in 2016 the time teachers spend every Friday afternoon and professional development days, such as the one highlighted in this video, are a defining element of who we are as a school and one of the most powerful tools to ensure that we continue to provide the very best educational experience for your children. As you view this video, you will be pleased to know that GCDS teachers are already incorporating ideas they gained at our professional development day last Thursday—real, tangible, and powerful new tools and ideas put directly into action to benefit all our students.
