Horseshoe crabs, lobsters, flounders, pufferfish, bluefish, spider crabs, testing the temperature of water samples from different depths, using a compass, examining plankton, doing one thing every day that would benefit the Sound––such as picking up trash, recycling, being mindful of what we pour down the drain. Sound like a college ecology class? At GCDS, it's just another day in the first grade!
Set sail with our first graders as their science curriculum takes them out onto Long Island Sound, where they learn incredibly important exploratory skills, as well as develop an appreciation for this amazing natural resource and how we can all help to protect it!
